Charities Win Big at Coeur d’Alene Casino
Coeur d’Alene Casino announces winners of Local Celebrity Barbecue Cook-Off
WORLEY, Idaho (August 16, 2017) — Local celebrity chefs faced off in the name of barbecue and philanthropy on Sunday in Coeur d’Alene Casino’s Chinook Meadow. A total of $4,830 was donated to local charities.
“We are so grateful to our partner the Inlander and our wonderful sponsors for supporting a fun event that is helping worthy charities in our area,” said Laura Stensgar, executive marketing director at Coeur d’Alene Casino. “Our second annual cook off was a success with great music, delicious barbecue, craft beer and good company.”
Last year’s People’s Choice winner, Toby’s BBQ, took home first place in the cook-off. Their charity of choice is Wishing Star Foundation in Spokane, Wash. A check totaling $3,830 will be presented to the organization on Wednesday, Aug. 16 at 4:30 p.m. with representatives from Coeur d’Alene Casino and Toby’s BBQ in attendance.
The 2017 People’s Choice award went to Drummin Up BBQ who’s charity of choice, Running W Ranch Therapeutic Riding Center, will receive $500.
The Inlander Local Celebrity Barbecue Duel featuring KXLY’s Mark Peterson of Good Morning Northwest and Kristi Gorenson of Newsradio 920 ended in a tie, their charities, Boys and Girls Club of Spokane and Girls on the Run of Spokane County, will each receive $250.
The event featured music from The Powers Band and was emceed by Jamie Patrick of 93.7 The Mountain. The annual cook-off would not be possible with out the help of the Inlander, TicketsWest, 93.7 The Mountain, Wallace Brewing, Spiceologist, Food Services of America and Seaboard foods.
