Coeur d’Alene Casino Continues Giving Tradition

WORLEY, Idaho (September 28, 2021) – A quarter here, a penny there – small change at Coeur d’Alene Casino is adding up to big giving to local charities. The new donation boxes, attached to ticket redemption machines, collect small change donations, but they are not making a small impact. Thanks to generous patron’s the boxes have already raised nearly $13,000.

The first charity selected to receive a contribution from the donation boxes is Newby-ginnings of North Idaho, Inc. The non-profit “thrift store” in Post Falls, Idaho provides necessities and essential household items to veterans, active military and their families at no cost. The store will receive a check for $12,897 from the Coeur Connections donation boxes. The boxes are now collecting donations for Spokane Humane Society.

Not one to sit idle, Coeur d’Alene Casino has been busy the last several months. Through its charity initiative Coeur Connections, the casino has donated funds and manpower to Blessings Under the Bridge and participated in Tools 2 Schools.

Coeur d’Alene Casino employees recently volunteered their time at Blessings Under the Bridge where they served food to the less fortunate. Each year the casino donates $10-15,000 in funds and event support bringing 30-40 employees to help serve nearly 500 people.

The property has been partnering with many of the same non-profits and fundraising initiatives for many years. As a long-time partner, the property participated in the annual Tools 2 Schools backpack drive in August, donating $10,000 to provide backpacks filled with supplies to financially challenged students.

There is plenty more giving planned for this fall. This will be the sixth year Coeur d’Alene Casino will support breast cancer patients through the Kootenai Health Foundation. To date the casino has donated nearly $24,000. Between Oct. 1 and 10 donation $5 and get $5 Extra Play Cash. All donations will go to the Cancer Patient Support Fund for breast cancer patients.

Winter Blessing will return this winter celebrating the season, honoring traditions and giving thousands to charities and deserving individuals. Each year Coeur d’Alene Casino pledges $20,000 to individuals and non-profit organizations as part of the annual Winter Blessing. In 2020, in recognition of especially hard times for many, the property increased that amount by $10,000. The community is encouraged to nominate local charities and individuals. Twenty families will each receive $500 and 10 non-profit organizations in the Inland Northwest will each receive $1,000. More details with dates and nominations deadlines will be announced.
